The Project Engineer for the Baton Rouge office directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering and construction materials testing (CMT) projects within the area of assigned responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Project Engineer helps with the ongoing development and execution of the business plan for the branch office based on the competitive marketplace; is responsible for implementation and adherence to corporate safety and quality control programs; provides direct supervision of the staff as directed by the Branch Manager; plans and implements engineering projects including defining the project philosophy, activities, milestones, and staff requirements according to the client’s requirements; develops and maintains a schedule and budget for the project/office; provides reports on the status of project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly; controls expenditures within limitations of project and office budget; identifies staffing requirements and coordinates staffing with upper management; coordinates the preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages; reviews deliverables for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client contract requirements, and related specifications; prepares interim and final project reports; interfaces with clients to provide project status reports and ensure clients’ needs are met; and provides status and progress reports to clients, the project team, and upper management.

The Project Engineer also dispatches technicians to jobsites; reviews daily technician time sheets and weekly time sheets; reviews technicians’ reports for accuracy; oversees the performance of laboratory testing (i.e., concrete strength tests, particle size analyses, etc.); prepares cost estimates for all project types (lab, CMT, engineering, etc.); attends occasional project meetings; participates in local professional societies (ASCE, ACI, ACEC, etc.); is the client contact and provides ongoing coordination for extended projects; attends meetings as Eustis Engineering’s representative; and participates in business development and client development events to further expand clientele.


  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of geotechnical experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (E.I.) certification.
  • Experience in the Geotechnical/CMT field.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
