glen-andersenEustis Engineering Services, L.L.C. is pleased to announce Glen R Andersen, ScD, P.E. joined its project management team as Principal Engineer in the Baton Rouge office on 1 June 2015.

Andersen brings 30 years of experience to the geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing firm and has extensive knowledge of the soil conditions in Louisiana.

In southern Louisiana, Andersen has performed and provided senior technical oversight for numerous geotechnical designs on flood control facilities including levees, T-walls, I-walls, sector gates, and hybrid flood control structures, many of which were associated with Hurricane Katrina reconstruction efforts. His expertise also includes embankment dams, highways, bridges, commercial and heavy industrial facilities, and forensic evaluation of constructed facilities.

Andersen began his career as a research engineer at Chevron Oil Field Research Company. He later served as assistant professor at Tulane University, Texas A&M University and Michigan State University. Andersen then continued his career in consulting engineering and was hired as project manager and senior geotechnical engineer at Burns Cooley Dennis in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Andersen has also held positions at other firms, most recently with AMEC Foster Wheeler.

He received a BS in civil engineering from Brigham Young University and an MS and ScD in civil engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His research at MIT was under the direction of Professor Charles Ladd, a world renowned researcher and educator in the field of geotechnical engineering, who pioneered the understanding of soil behavior that is routinely used in engineering practice today.
