Students at the University of Holy Cross in New Orleans now have the option to live on campus, and Eustis Engineering completed the geotechnical and materials testing services for the project. The 60,000 square foot dormitory is the university’s first-ever on-campus housing. Eustis Engineering’s services for the four-story dormitory included a full-scale geotechnical exploration program comprising multiple soil borings and laboratory testing. We provided geotechnical engineering foundation recommendations regarding deep foundation capacity estimates, site and foundation settlement, pavements, and general best practices for site construction with respect to earthwork. Our services extended into construction phases with performance and evaluation of a test pile program for the structure. Eustis Engineering also performed infiltration testing at the site.
