Eustis Engineering was proud to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion project on the Lower Mississippi River in Louisiana. This project is “widely regarded as the most ambitious environmental restoration project in the State’s history” and is the signature project of the State’s Coastal Master Plan to revitalize Louisiana’s coastal areas.  The recent groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant milestone many years in the making.

Eustis Engineering provided the geotechnical engineering and design for all facets of the project. The project will divert sediment-rich river water into the subsiding coastal wetlands. This will build land in the long term by reconnecting the river back to its neighboring wetlands.
