WILLIAM CAREY UNIVERSITY

Eustis Engineering recently completed geotechnical and construction materials testing services for William Carey University’s new School of Pharmacy and new classroom at the Tradition Campus off MS Highway 67 in Biloxi, Mississippi. The structures included an 11,000 square foot, three-story pharmacy building, and two-story, 8,400 square foot classroom. The new pharmacy school would be connected to  another building.

School of Pharmacy“This project is an excellent addition to William Carey. It’s great to see specialized higher education curriculums being offered on the Gulf Coast,” said Brian Deschamp, P.E., Eustis Engineering’s Gulfport branch manager. “We were on a great design team for this project with Eley Guild Hardy Architects; Live Oak Engineering; Brown, Mitchell & Alexander; and Mac’s Construction.”

After performing soil borings and cone penetration tests, Eustis Engineering performed engineering analyses including estimates of settlement and allowable soil bearing values, parameters for determining lateral earth pressures, and recommendations for the retaining wall that would also serve as the wall of the lowest floor in the new school. We also provided drainage and general construction recommendations. We continued our involvement with the project by providing construction materials testing and special inspection services including soil mechanics laboratory tests, in-place nuclear density tests, soils special inspection, concrete testing, reinforced concrete special inspection, floor flatness and levelness tests, structural steel special inspection, and welding inspections.
